Surati Marbles

Our place is over in Sukher, right near the Bharat Petrol Pump. It’s a busy spot because everyone stops for fuel right there, so there is always a lot of noise and people moving around. We have a lot of marble sitting out in the yard. It takes a lot of effort to keep everything lined up so the slabs don't lean too hard against each other. Some days we are just unloading trucks that come in from the quarries. It’s a messy job, and our boots are usually white from the slurry and the dust that comes off the stone. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Usually, we just stand out by the slabs and talk to whoever walks in. People come by asking about prices or looking for a specific grain, and we just walk them through what we have on the lot at the moment. The weather out here in Sukher can be tough on us, but the stone doesn't mind the heat. We spend our time checking the inventory and making sure nothing is cracked. It's a simple way to make a living, really. The petrol pump next door is a good landmark because otherwise, all these marble yards start to look the same after a while. We stay busy with the local builders and folks fixing up their kitchens. It’s just us doing our thing every day near the highway.
