Meera Marbles & Granite

If you’re driving on National Highway No. 8 near Sukher, you’ll pass right by us. We are at G 268-269 and H 300-302. It’s a large space because we need the room for all the granite and marble we keep. Being on the highway means it's always loud with the sound of trucks and cars rushing past. The dust is a real problem, honestly. No matter how much we sweep, there’s always a fresh layer by lunchtime. We spend our days showing people around the different lots. Since we have multiple plots, there is a lot of walking back and forth. I usually wear my old boots because the ground is never flat and there are always scraps of stone everywhere. We deal with both marble and granite, and people often get confused about which one they need for their floors or counters. We just explain what we know from years of handling it. It’s a family-run thing, mostly. My uncle handles the sourcing and I stay at the yard to manage the sales and the laborers. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just rely on the fact that we've been on this highway for years and people know the Meera name. It's hard work, especially when the summer heat hits Rajasthan, but we just keep the water cooler full and keep going. Most days we are here from early morning until the sun goes down behind the hills.
