Shree Vishal Namkeen

Being on the corner in Shakti Nagar, specifically at Shakti Nagar Corner, 4, means we see a lot of people every day. Shree Vishal Namkeen is mostly about the smells. When we are frying things in the back, the whole street knows about it. We start early with the big pots of oil. It is hot work, especially in the summer months. The shop isn't very large, so we stack the bags of snacks as high as we can. Sometimes they lean a bit, but they stay up. People come in looking for something to eat with their tea in the evening. That is our busiest time. The floor usually has a bit of flour on it because we are always moving things around. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. We know which snacks people like the most. Some customers have been coming here since they were kids. It’s nice to see the same faces. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or anything like that. The jars are clear so people can see what they are getting. It’s a straightforward way of doing things. We just make the food, bag it up, and talk to the neighbors. It’s a tiring job but it feels right to be here on this corner in Shakti Nagar doing what we know how to do. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, making it even warmer.
