Shree Nath General Store

Shree Nath General Store is right on Badgaon Main Road. It’s been here for a while now. The shop is usually open early because people around here need their milk and bread before heading to work. We have shelves packed with all sorts of things, from pulses and rice to small soaps and notebooks for kids. It gets pretty crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming back home. Sometimes the boxes are stacked a bit high because the delivery arrived late, and we haven't had time to move everything to the back yet. The floor is concrete and we try to sweep it twice a day, but the dust from the main road always finds a way in. There is a small stool near the counter where people sit and chat for a minute while we get their change ready. The fan in the middle makes a clicking sound when it’s on high speed, but it’s better than the heat. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights or anything like that. Just a regular shop where you can find what you need for your kitchen. Most of the people who come here live in the nearby lanes, so we know most faces. We keep track of what people usually ask for and try to have it ready. If the rain starts, people stand under the small tin roof out front to stay dry. It’s just how things go here on the main road. We keep busy.
