Burhani Store is located at 121 Chamanpura, right near where the old Tanga stand used to be. It’s a spot everyone in the neighborhood knows well. We aren't one of those big supermarkets with bright lights and matching uniforms for the staff. It’s just a local shop where things are stacked a bit high and the aisles are narrow. We carry a bit of everything that people might need in their daily lives, from grains to small household items. Some days it’s quiet and we just sit by the door watching the street, and other days it’s so packed you can barely move through the door. We don’t really have a grand plan or a mission statement. We just try to keep the shelves stocked with the stuff people ask for most. If someone needs something we don't have, we try to get it for them by the next time they come in. It’s a personal way of doing things that we prefer. We know most of our customers by name, and we know who likes which brand of tea or who’s looking for a specific kind of spice for their cooking. The shop has been here for many years, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to close up and actually do it. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in. It’s not a complicated life, but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the community here.
