Shree Amrit Namkeen Bhandar

Out here in Madri Industrial Area, things are a bit different than the city center. Shree Amrit Namkeen Bhandar is located at Gulab Bagh 32 C, and it’s mostly surrounded by warehouses and workshops. we start early because the heat gets unbearable by noon. The big fryers take a while to warm up. We spend the morning mixing the dough and spices for the namkeen. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with the flour bags. My back usually aches by the time we finish the first batch. We don't have any fancy packaging machines, we just weigh things out and seal the bags ourselves. The smell of hot oil stays in your clothes for days. We get a lot of workers from the nearby factories who come in during their lunch break. They want something salty and quick to eat. The walls are a bit stained from the smoke, but that’s how a snack shop usually looks. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep the accounts. It’s messy with papers and pens. Sometimes the truck for deliveries gets stuck in the narrow lane outside. We just have to wait for it to move. It’s a lot of sweat and hard work at 32 C, but it’s what we do every day. The ventilation could be better, but we make it through the shifts somehow.
