Shanti Sweets

Out on Sajjan Garh Road, near the Dhudhiya Ganeshji area, you’ll find our little shop, Shanti Sweets. It’s a bit different out here compared to the main city center. We get a lot of people who are on their way to or from the temple. The pace of life is a little slower, but the work is still the same. We spend our mornings over the big iron pans, making sure the milk doesn’t burn. The shop is small and we don’t have much room for fancy displays. We just use what we have. Most of our day is spent talking to the locals and checking our stock of ingredients. We don’t have any polished slogans or big goals. We just want to make sure there’s enough food on the trays for whoever stops by. The heat from the stove can be tough in the summer, but we’re used to it by now. We don’t have air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day long. It feels like a real part of the neighborhood here. People stop by just to say hello even if they aren’t buying anything. We use old recipes that haven’t changed in years because that’s what we know how to do. It’s not a complicated business. We just open up, cook, sell what we can, and go home to do it all again the next day.
