Satyam Marbles

Satyam Marbles is situated in the Hawa Magri area of Sukher, right along the NH-8 highway. If you know this part of Udaipur, you know it can get quite windy up on the hill. We have our yard set up so that the marble slabs are easy to see from the road. We spend a lot of our time moving the heavy stones around with the cranes and making sure the rows are straight. The highway is always humming with traffic, but that is part of being in the marble trade here. We have all kinds of pieces sitting out in the open. Some of the marble has been here for a while and some is fresh from the quarry. We do not go in for big marketing or polished sales pitches. We just show people what we have available in the yard. The ground is almost always covered in a thin layer of white dust from all the stone work happening nearby. It is a very practical way to make a living. We open up the gates early in the morning and stay until the sun starts to go down. Every slab of marble has its own unique look, and we spend time inspecting them to see how the veins run. It is honest, physical work that keeps us busy throughout the week. We just focus on the stone and the people who come to see it.
