Sanjar Marble

Our shop is at 78 Lal Ghat, right near Jagdish Chowk. This part of the city has very narrow streets, so getting marble in and out can be a bit of a challenge. Sanjar Marble has been in this spot for some time, and we are used to the rhythm of the neighborhood. It’s a busy area with a lot of people walking by and the sound of bells from the nearby temples. We have to be very organized because we don't have a massive amount of space like the big warehouses outside of town. We keep our best slabs where they can be seen, but a lot of the work happens in the back where we do the finishing. The stone comes in big and rough, and we spend hours polishing it until it looks right. It’s a messy job with a lot of water and slurry on the floor. We often have to schedule our deliveries for early in the morning before the streets get too crowded with tourists and locals. We talk to a lot of people every day, from homeowners to contractors who are working on the old buildings nearby. There is always a layer of stone dust on the desks and the chairs, no matter how much we wipe them down. It’s just the way it is when you work with marble in the heart of the city. We take our time with each piece to make sure it’s ready for the customer.
