Ramesh General Store

Ramesh General Store is located inside Surajpole, right near the Asthal Mandir. This is an old part of the city, and the streets are always full of people going to the temple or the market. My father started this shop, and I’ve been running it for a long time now. We sell all the basic things a household needs, like grains, soaps, spices, and snacks. The shop is small and has that old-style feel to it with wooden shelves and big glass jars for candies. Because we are near the temple, we also keep some items people might need for their prayers. It gets very crowded on festival days, and sometimes it’s hard to even move inside the shop. We don’t have a computer or anything, we just write things down in a ledger. It works fine for us. I know almost everyone who lives in these lanes. We talk about the weather or the news while I pack their groceries in bags. It’s a lot of standing and lifting, which can be tiring when you get older, but it’s the life I know. We don’t try to compete with the big malls. We just provide a place where you can get a single kilo of sugar without waiting in a long line. It’s an honest shop for honest people. We’ll be here as long as the neighbors keep coming by for their daily supplies.
