Prem Shanker Dangi

If you are traveling down Tekri Madri Road, you will eventually come across Seja Ki Bhagal where we are set up. Prem Shanker Dangi is just the name of the place here on this stretch of road. It’s a local spot where things move at a bit of a slower pace than in the middle of the big city. We spend our days dealing with whatever comes through the door, whether it’s people from the nearby farms or folks traveling along the road. The building is simple and reflects the dusty environment around us. We don’t have much in the way of air conditioning, so the doors stay open to catch whatever breeze there is. There is always a bit of tea being made in the back, and the smell of it usually fills the room by mid-morning. We have some old ledgers where we write everything down by hand. It feels more reliable that way sometimes. The road outside can get a bit muddy when it rains, and we end up cleaning the floors a lot more often during those weeks. It is an honest place to work. We know most of the families around here and they know they can just stop by if they need something handled. We don’t put on any acts or try to seem bigger than we are. It’s just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of daily work.
