Padmavati Kirana & General Store

I’ve been running this store in Hiran Magri Sector-11 for a while now. We are at 2-A, and it’s a pretty quiet neighborhood compared to the city center. Most of the people who come in live just a few houses away. They come for the basics like flour, oil, and soap. I try to keep everything in its place, but the kids usually mess up the candy jars when they come in after school. My wife helps me with the inventory on weekends. We have to be careful with the stock because things can go past their date if we don't watch it. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things up high to fit everything in. Sometimes I have to use a ladder to reach the top shelves for the light bulbs or the big detergent packs. I know which neighbors like which brand of tea, so I try to keep their favorites ready. It’s a nice way to live, talking to everyone who walks through the door. The mornings are for the elderly people getting their milk and the evenings are for the families getting things for dinner. We don't have a computer system, just a notebook where I write down what we need to order next. It’s simple and it works for us. Even when the rain leaks a little near the door, we just mop it up and keep going.
