P P Marbles

Our shop, P P Marbles, is out in Amberi on N H-8. We are pretty close to Jain Grani. This part of the highway feels a bit different than the main Sukher stretch, but it’s still very much about the stone. We have our slabs lined up along the edge of the property so people driving by can see them. It gets very dusty out here, especially when the trucks go fast. We spend a good part of the morning cleaning off the faces of the marble so the patterns aren't hidden by the road grime. It’s just me and a couple of others most days. We handle the loading and unloading ourselves. It’s heavy stuff, so we have to be careful. The sun in Amberi can be really strong, making the stone almost too hot to touch in the middle of the afternoon. We usually take a break then and sit in the shade of the small office. We don't have any big slogans or fancy displays. We just have the marble that comes from the ground. People come by looking for something specific for their floors or walls, and we walk them through the rows. It’s a quiet kind of work until a truck arrives. Then it’s all noise and chains and heavy lifting for an hour or two. That’s just the way things go at P P Marbles. We are here every day. It's a lot of physical effort but it's what we do.
