Our office is at number 30 in Sunderwas, here in Udaipur. It’s a residential-turned-commercial kind of area, so it feels a bit more like a home than a stiff office building. We handle exports for various items. Most of our day is spent coordinating between local makers and the people who want to buy things from outside the country. It’s a lot of back and forth on the phone. The Sunderwas area is usually pretty busy with people going to work or running errands. We have a small storage space where we keep samples. Sometimes the walls get a bit cluttered with posters and old calendars. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the couriers to show up. It isn't a massive operation, just a few of us making sure the paperwork is filed and the goods are packed securely. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. You just walk in and we are right there at our desks. Udaipur is a beautiful city to live in, but when you are stuck inside looking at invoices, you sometimes forget to look at the hills. We try to keep things organized but sometimes when a big order comes in, the whole place looks like a mess for a few days. We just clean it up and start over the next morning. It is a simple life but it keeps us busy enough.
