Mercury Marbles & Tiles

You can find Mercury Marbles & Tiles at plots 70-71 in Sukher. We are right near Laxmi Engineering Works. Having the engineering works nearby means there is always some kind of mechanical noise in the air, clanking and grinding. It blends in with our own sounds of moving tiles and marble slabs. We have two plots here, so there is a fair amount of space to walk around. We keep the tiles stacked in one area and the bigger marble slabs in another. It’s a lot to keep track of. My hands are usually rough from handling the edges of the stone all day. We don't wear suits or anything like that. We wear clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. The work is mostly about moving heavy things from one place to another. Sometimes a customer comes in and wants to see a slab that is right at the back of the pile, and we have to move ten other pieces just to get to it. It takes time and effort. We don't have a polished sales pitch. We just show people what we have in the yard. The weather plays a big part in our day. If it’s too windy, the dust is a problem. If it rains, the yard gets muddy. But the stone is tough, and so are we. We've been at 70-71 Sukher for a while now, just doing the work.
