Mateshwari Stone

Mateshwari Stone is located over in Bhuwana at Sohan Sadan. It is a bit of a local landmark for us. The building has been here for a while, and we operate out of it. We deal with all kinds of stone. Our day-to-day is mostly about talking to people who need material for their floors or walls. It's a practical business. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. We just show you what we have in the yard. Sometimes the stone looks different when it's wet versus when it's dry, so we often have a hose ready to show people the real color. Bhuwana is a growing part of town, so we see a lot of new faces. Being at Sohan Sadan gives us a good sense of place. The office is small and usually has some tea brewing for whoever stops by. We do a lot of the heavy work ourselves. Moving stone is never easy on the back, but we are used to it by now. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just us and a couple of helpers. We try to be fair and just get the job done. The stone business is old-fashioned in a way. You look at the material, you agree on a price, and you take it. That’s how we have always done it here in Bhuwana. It’s a bit messy and dusty, but it’s our life. We just keep our stock ready and wait for the next customer to walk through the gate. It is a steady way to spend the day.
