Lala Misthan Bhandar

We are located at 74-75 right by the Clock Tower. It’s a landmark spot, so people find us pretty easily even with all the chaos of the traffic. Lala Misthan Bhandar has been a part of this corner for many years. We have two units next to each other to handle the cooking and the selling. The noise of the clock chiming and the cars honking is just background music to us now. We make a lot of traditional sweets and sometimes some salty snacks too if we have the time. The kitchen is always a hive of activity with people stirring big pots and traying up the finished sweets. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just show up, make the food, and sell it to whoever comes to the counter. The shop can get quite cramped when there’s a rush, and the fans never seem to move the air fast enough. We use recipes that have been around for a long time without changing much. It’s a family-run kind of thing and we all pitch in where we are needed. Sometimes we get tourists who are lost, and we help them out while they look at the sweets. It’s a busy life being near the Clock Tower, but we wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves if it was quiet. We just try to get the flavors right.
