Kumkum Marbles

Kumkum Marbles is situated right on the N H - 8 in Sukher. Being on the national highway means we get a lot of dust and noise, but it's where the action is. We have a wide range of marbles stacked up in our yard. Every day is pretty much the same. We open up, sweep away some of the road dust, and wait for the first truck to arrive. We don't do any big marketing. Our sign on the highway is usually enough. People know that this part of Sukher is the place to go for stone. We spend a lot of time walking between the rows of slabs. Some are from nearby quarries and others come from further away. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning. We just have the yard and a small place to sit. When people come by, we just walk them through the rows. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving the heavy pieces so people can see the patterns. We’ve been here for a good while, so we know the highway traffic patterns well. It’s busiest in the mornings. We don't use any polished language to talk about our marble. It is just stone from the earth, and we sell it as it is. We try to be helpful and honest about what each piece is like. It’s a basic way to make a living, and we like it that way. We just keep moving the stone and checking the quality for whoever needs it. It gets quite loud with the horns honking all day long, but you get used to it.
