Khammaghani Art & Craft

Our shop, Khammaghani Art & Craft, is situated by Hanuman Ghat, just outside the Chandpole area. It’s a very old part of the city, and you can feel the history every time you walk down the street. We deal in various local crafts and pieces of art that reflect the traditions of this place. The shop is small and filled to the ceiling with carvings, paintings, and textiles. There isn’t much room to move around, but that’s part of the charm, I suppose. We spend our days talking to visitors who have wandered down to the ghat and locals who are looking for something specific. It’s a bit of a climb to get here depending on where you're coming from, but the view of the water nearby is nice. We aren't trying to be a big commercial store; we just want to keep the local crafts going. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when things are slow and just watch the people go by. We don’t have fancy lighting or expensive displays. We just put the items out where people can see them and touch them. It gets quite hot in the summer months, and the fans barely do enough, but we stay open regardless. This business is our life, and being at Hanuman Ghat feels like the right place for us. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us connected to our roots and the community around Chandpole. We just take things one day at a time here.
