Being on the Malla Talai Rampura Road means there is always something going on outside our door. We’ve stayed in this same spot, serving whoever walks in. It’s mostly locals from around the neighborhood. We get the pans going early to make sure there is enough for the breakfast crowd. The smell of the sweets usually fills up the street by eight. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. People just know where we are. It’s a small place, so it can get a bit cramped when five or six people are waiting at the same time. We just keep our heads down and pack the boxes as fast as we can. Some of the recipes come from back home, and we haven't changed the way we cook them. It’s practical work. My hands are usually covered in flour or sugar by mid-morning. We try to keep the place tidy, but when it’s busy, things get a bit messy behind the counter. That’s just the reality of running a sweet shop on a busy road like this. We see the same faces every day, which is nice. It makes the long hours feel a bit shorter. We stay open until the trays are mostly empty. If you’re around Rampura Road, we are hard to miss. We’re just a regular shop doing our thing day in and day out without much fuss.
