Jagdish Misthan Bhandar

Our shop, Jagdish Misthan Bhandar, is over at 16 Surajpole Sarang Marg. It’s right near the main gate area, so there’s always people moving around outside. We get our milk delivered early every single morning before the sun is even up. That is when the work really starts, boiling the milk down for the different sweets we make. We have a few big display cases but they aren't the fancy glass kind you see in malls. They are just regular cases to keep the flies away. We make things like ladoos and barfis and whatever else people are looking for. On festival days, it gets absolutely crazy in here and we can barely keep up with the orders. Everyone is tired and sweaty but we just keep going until the trays are empty. We’ve been at this address for quite a while now. Some of our customers have been coming here since they were little kids, and now they bring their own children. It’s nice to see that, I guess. The floor is usually a bit damp from cleaning and the air is always sweet. We don’t do any advertising or stuff like that. People just know where we are and they come by when they want something sweet to take home. Most days it is just a lot of stirring and packing boxes until we close up for the night.
