Gulab Stones

We are located out on NH-8 in the Sukher area. If you know this road, you know it’s basically the heart of the stone trade around here. Gulab Stones is just one of many, but we’ve got our own way of doing things. The trucks rumble past all day and night, and the ground kind of shakes when the big ones go by. We spend most of our time out in the sun, moving pieces of stone around and making sure the stacks are safe. It’s not easy work because marble is heavy and it doesn't forgive mistakes. We don't use a lot of big words or marketing talk. We just show people what we have available. Sometimes the slabs come in and they're beautiful right away, and other times they need a bit of water to really show their potential. The dust gets into everything, your hair, your clothes, even your tea if you aren't careful. We keep a regular schedule, opening up when the light is good and closing when it starts to fade. There's a lot of competition on NH-8, but we just focus on what's in our own yard. People stop by because they saw something from the road or they heard we had a certain kind of stone. We just give them the facts and let them look around. It's a practical business, and we've been at it long enough to know the routine by heart.
