Doshi Marbles

Doshi Marbles is tucked inside the Sukher N H-8 Marble Complex. We are near the Lodha Petrol Pump, which is a big landmark for anyone coming through this way. Being inside a complex means we are surrounded by other people doing the exact same thing. It’s a whole community of stone workers. There is always the sound of cutting or polishing happening somewhere nearby. Our spot is filled with different types of marble slabs. We keep them standing up in rows. It's a bit of a maze sometimes when we have a lot of stock. We spend our time moving through these rows, checking for cracks or interesting patterns in the stone. The ground is always white from the stone dust. We don’t try to make the place look like a showroom because it’s a working yard. It’s messy and loud and honest. When the sun goes down, the whole complex gets a bit quieter, but during the day, it's nonstop. We use a lot of water to keep the dust down and to show people what the marble looks like when it's polished. Most of our day is just manual labor, talking to drivers, and making sure the slabs are safe. It’s a simple business model. We are just here at the complex near the petrol pump, doing what we know how to do with the materials we have. It might not be the most high-tech place, but it is where we work every day.
