Dhiraj Marble

We are based in Sukher, which is pretty much the main spot for anyone looking for marble. There are yards everywhere you look. Ours is just a regular plot where we keep our stock. We deal mostly in marble slabs. It’s a lot of work keeping the place running. You have to constantly move the slabs around so the ones in the back don't get forgotten. We spend a lot of time with a water hose in hand. You have to wash the dust off the stone so people can see the patterns. It’s the only way to tell if a piece is actually good or just average. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I still get surprised by what we find inside a block of stone. Sometimes the colors are amazing and other times they are just plain. We don't do any big advertising. People just know where we are. We sit out in the yard most of the day, talking to customers or the truck drivers. The office is just for keeping the paperwork in order so we don't lose track of the payments. It gets loud with all the traffic on the main road, but that's just life in Sukher. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just sell marble and try to get through the work week without any of the machines breaking down. The mud on our boots never really dries out before we’re back at it.
