You can find us on the Sukher Main Road, right on NH-8, directly across from the Vandana Weigh Bridge. That weigh bridge is a busy place, and we often see the same drivers every day as they pull their loads in and out. Being right on the main road makes it easy for our distributors to find us, but it also means it’s very loud and there’s always a lot of dust in the air. We focus mostly on distribution, so our yard is constantly changing as new slabs come in and old ones go out to the shops. I spend most of my day outside with a clipboard, making sure the counts are right and the quality is what it should be. The stone is heavy and dangerous if you don’t respect it, so we are always telling the new guys to watch their feet and hands. We don’t have a big corporate structure here; it’s just me and a few family members running the show. We’ve been in this spot for a long time and have seen the highway change quite a bit. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the yard a muddy mess, and we have to slow down the work until it dries out. It’s a practical business. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do. We just move stone from one place to another and try to keep everyone happy.
