Bapna Marbles

You can find us near the Devpura Petrol Pump on N.H. 8 in Sukher. Bapna Marbles has been sitting here for years. The petrol pump is a good landmark because everyone stops there. Our yard is usually filled with different blocks we've brought in. It’s a lot of manual labor, shifting things around and organizing the slabs by size. I usually wear a cap to keep the sun out of my eyes while I'm working outside. It gets pretty loud with the highway traffic right there. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just have marble and we sell it. The office is small, just enough for a desk and some chairs for when people want to sit for a minute. We drink a lot of water because of the heat and the dust. Most of our neighbors are also in the stone business, so we all know each other. Sometimes we borrow a tool or help someone out with a heavy lift. It’s a tight community here in Sukher. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights. Everything is out in the open air. You see the stone exactly as it is, dirt and all. We just try to be fair and keep the yard running smooth. It’s a long day, but it’s what we know how to do. The stones are heavy and the work is hard, but it’s our life. We just stay focused on the work at hand.
