Our little shop, Banarasi Pan, is located on Surajpole City Station Road 2. It is a very busy area because of the station being so close. There is always someone walking by, no matter what time it is. We have a small wooden counter where we spend most of our hours. The glass jars are lined up with all the different things we need. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside, especially when we have more than one person working. We see a lot of travelers who are just passing through the city. They look tired from their journeys and just want a quick break. We also have the locals who live just down the street. They come by every evening like clockwork. The lighting in here isn't the brightest, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it feels comfortable to us. We don't really do any advertising. People just find us because we are right there on the road. The smell of the betel leaves is very strong when you walk in. We spend a lot of time cleaning the leaves and preparing the mixtures. It’s a repetitive kind of work, but there is a rhythm to it that I like. Being on City Station Road means you never get bored. There is always something happening outside the door while we work on the next order for whoever walks in. It’s a good spot to see the city life.
