Anmol General Store

Anmol General Store is situated right in Dhanmandi Tij Ka Chowk. This is one of the busiest spots you can imagine. The chowk is always full of people buying vegetables and household items. Our store is small but we cram as much as we can onto the shelves. You can find almost any small thing you need for the house here. We have soap, flour, and little packets of spices. It gets very crowded inside when three or four people come in at once. We have to be quick to find what they are looking for. The noise from the market outside never really stops. You hear the vegetable sellers calling out their prices all day long. We have a small stool behind the counter where we sit when there are no customers. Most of the time, we are standing and reaching for items on the top shelves. The floor is made of old stone and it has seen a lot of boots over the years. Being in Dhanmandi means we are in the heart of the trade. We see the seasons change by what is being sold in the chowk outside. During festivals, the area gets so packed you can hardly move. We just stay behind the counter and keep serving the people who come in. It is a basic general store and we like being part of the local bustle.
