Our yard is over at No. 57 Anand Nagar. We go by Shivam Marbles & Granites Pvt. Ltd., though most people around here just call us Shivam. We’ve been in Anand Nagar for a long time now. The yard is usually full of granite and marble slabs. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, so we stay pretty tired by the end of the day. We don't have a big corporate office with air conditioning. Our office is just a small room where we keep the books and take a break now and then. We like being in a place like Anand Nagar because it’s easy for folks to get to. We handle all the loading and unloading ourselves most days. The stone comes in, we sort it by color and size, and then it waits for someone to pick it. It’s a basic cycle. We aren’t trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to do our work and go home to our families. Sometimes the machines act up or the weather doesn't cooperate, but we find a way to get things done. People come by because they know we’ve been here and we aren't going anywhere. It’s an honest way to make a living, working with the earth’s materials. If you’re around No. 57, you’ll likely hear us working from the street. We do what we can.
