Working at Arihant Tiles & Marbles Pvt. Ltd. means being around a lot of heavy material. Our yard at Amberi N. H. No. 8 is right where the trucks pass by constantly. It gets loud but you get used to it. The marble slabs are heavy and they stay cool to the touch. We spend our mornings checking the new arrivals. The tiles come in different colors and sizes. Sometimes we have to move things twice just to find what someone is asking for. Arihant Tiles & Marbles Pvt. Ltd. is basically a big open space with lots of stone. We wear thick gloves because the edges can be sharp. Amberi N. H. No. 8 isn't a quiet neighborhood, it's a place for business. We see the same tea stall guy every afternoon. It’s a simple setup we have here. No big fancy showroom, just rows of marble and tiles. We look at the patterns in the stone while we work. Every piece is a bit different. Some days are slow and we just clean up the warehouse area. Other days are a mess of orders and loading. It’s just how it goes in this industry. We don't use much technology, just hands and some basic tools. The dust gets into everything, even your hair. But it feels good to see the stone leaving on a truck for a new home. We stay busy enough to keep the day going. It is a long day but the stone is good.
