Adinath Departmental

Adinath Departmental is located at Hiran Magri Sector 14 A/41. It’s a corner spot in a busy neighborhood. We have bags of grains and pulses stacked up near the entrance. The smell of raw sugar and spices is always there. It’s a heavy scent that sticks to your clothes. We spend a lot of the day weighing things out on the scale. The counter is made of wood and it’s worn smooth in the middle from all the years of use. We have rows of shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We have to use a small ladder to reach the top ones. It’s a bit rickety so we have to be careful. The floor is grey cement. It gets dirty fast with all the foot traffic. We have a big tub of water in the back for washing up. Hiran Magri is full of families. We see the same people every morning buying milk or bread. We don't have those fancy barcode scanners. We just know the prices or look at the labels. It’s a lot of mental math. The bell on the door rings every time someone enters. It’s a sharp sound that we’ve grown used to. In the summer, the heat stays trapped inside even with the door open. We just keep the fan going and drink plenty of water. It’s a long day from dawn to dusk.
