We’ve been operating here on Sagamatha Street for a good while now. Dealing with iron and steel is heavy, dirty work, as anyone who’s been by the yard can see. Most days it’s just us moving heavy stock around for the trucks. It gets pretty dusty out here, especially in the dry afternoons, but that’s just how it goes with this kind of business. The name V V Iron Steel Co Pvt. Ltd. is on the main gate, though most folks around here just know us as the metal place on the corner. We don’t do much fancy stuff, just keep the inventory moving and help out people who come in looking for specific lengths or types of steel. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other days it’s quiet enough to actually get some sorting done in the back. We’ve seen the street change quite a bit over the years, there's a lot more traffic now. It’s a lot of physical lifting and shifting, and we all have the callouses to prove it. We keep a small, steady crew and we all know the routine by heart. Nothing really exciting happens, we just stay busy with the orders that come through. If you walk down Sagamatha Street, you’ll hear us before you see us. The metal makes a lot of noise when it's being dragged or loaded onto the flatbeds. It’s honest, tiring work and we’ve gotten used to the grit. We try to keep things organized in our own way, even if it looks a bit messy.
