Raja Salt Corporation

Down here in Thoothukudi, the air always smells a bit like the sea. Raja Salt Corporation is located on the first floor of building number 27 in Chidambara Nagar. It's a small street, the second one over, and it stays pretty quiet compared to the main roads. We deal with salt, obviously. It’s a staple around here. The office is pretty basic with just a few desks and a lot of ledgers. We don't spend much on decorations. Most of our day is spent tracking shipments and talking to the folks at the pans. Salt is a simple product, but getting it where it needs to go takes a lot of time. We’ve seen the weather change and the markets shift, but we just keep doing what we do. Sometimes the stairs up to the first floor feel a bit steep at the end of a long shift. We know most of our customers by their first names since they’ve been coming to us for years. There isn't any fancy strategy here. We just buy, sell, and move salt. It’s honest work that pays the bills. Sometimes we run out of tea or the printer jams, but we get through it. That’s just how a local business runs. We focus on the current load and don't worry too much about next year. It’s a steady life for the people who work here.
