Kamalavati Secondary School

We are located over in Sahupuram, which is right in the Arumuganeri area. If you live around here, you probably know the school because it’s been a part of the neighborhood for quite some time. The building is solid and has that look of a place that’s seen a lot of students pass through its doors. Every morning, the gates open early and the staff starts getting things ready before the sun gets too high. It’s a secondary school, so we deal with the older kids who are mostly focused on their books and getting through their exams. The classrooms have high ceilings and heavy wooden desks that have been there for years. You can see the names of former students scratched into some of them if you look closely. Outside, the ground is mostly flat and we use it for morning assembly when the weather isn't too hot. There’s a lot of salt air around here since we’re near the coast, and sometimes you can feel it on the windows. People in Arumuganeri are hardworking, and we try to keep things running smoothly without too much fuss. We don't have any grand decorations or anything like that. It’s just a place for learning and hanging out with friends between lessons. Most of our teachers live nearby, so they’ve known these families for years. It feels like a small community inside these walls, even when things get a bit hectic during the middle of the term.
