S C B H P S

Our school, S C B H P S, is over in Kenkere, Tumkur. It is a pretty basic setup that has been part of the neighborhood for a long time. Most families around here know where we are. We mostly deal with the younger children from the surrounding streets. Every morning starts with a fair amount of noise as the kids arrive and start running around the small open area we have. The desks and benches are a bit old, but they are sturdy enough for daily use. We don't spend much time on decorations or anything like that because we are more focused on the daily lessons. The teachers usually live nearby, so they walk or ride their bikes in every day. Since it is a small place, we see the parents at the local market and end up talking about how the kids are getting on with their studies. It is a very tight-knit kind of place. Sometimes we have to fix a leaky tap or paint a patch on the wall ourselves when things get worn out. The weather here in Tumkur can get quite hot, so we keep the fans going all day long. We keep a simple stack of extra notebooks in the cupboard for whoever happens to need one. It’s just us teaching the basics to the local children without any big fuss. The lunch hour is always the loudest part of our day.
