Jr Polytechnic College is situated out in Alundur, which is part of the Tiruchirappalli area. Being a polytechnic, the place is full of the sounds of machines and students working with their hands. It is not like a quiet library; there is always something being built or fixed in the workshops. The campus is located a bit away from the main city buzz of Trichy, giving it a bit more space. We have different departments for the various technical trades. The buildings are plain, painted in standard colors, and have large windows to let the air in because Tamil Nadu gets quite warm. Students arrive early, many of them traveling from the surrounding villages and towns. You will see them in their uniforms, carrying their drawing boards or tool kits. The staff here are mostly practical people who have spent years teaching how things work in the real world. It is a no-nonsense environment. We focus on getting the practicals done and making sure the students understand the technical drawings. Between classes, the halls are noisy with students talking about their projects or upcoming exams. It is just a place where young people come to learn a trade and get ready for work. There are no fancy lounges, just workshops, classrooms, and a lot of hard work happening every day in Alundur.
