If you drive down Madurai Main Road through Manikandam, you’ll find us easily enough. Indra Ganesan College Of Education has been sitting here in Tiruchirappalli for some years now. It gets quite hot in this part of Tamil Nadu, so we try to keep the classrooms as comfortable as we can for the students. Most of the people coming here are hoping to become teachers one day. You see them walking around with their books and talking about their upcoming exams or the schools where they go for training. The college isn't anything fancy or shiny, just a place where work gets done. We have a routine that hasn't changed much. Every morning, the staff arrives and starts setting things up. There is always a lot of paperwork to deal with, and the students are always coming in to ask questions about their schedules. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but the bus stop isn't too far away, which helps. Sometimes it feels a bit busy with all the traffic passing by toward Madurai, but inside the gate, things are a bit quieter. We aren't trying to do anything grand, just running a college and making sure the future teachers of this area have a place to study. It is a practical sort of place with old desks and a lot of chalk dust, which is how a teaching college usually looks. We just keep going day by day.
