Balamurugan Modern Rice Mills

The mill is located at 56/4 on the Main Road in Polur. It is a busy spot because the road stays pretty crowded with trucks and people going about their business. At Balamurugan Modern Rice Mills, the sound of the machines is something you just get used to after a while. It can get quite loud inside when everything is running at once. We spend a lot of our hours handling the heavy bags and watching the rice go through the different stages of cleaning and processing. The air is often filled with a bit of dust from the husks, which is just part of the job here. We’ve been at this location for a while, and the building has seen better days, but it does what it needs to do. Most of us here grew up around Polur, so we know the area like the back of our hand. We don’t really do much besides work the mill and make sure the orders are ready when they need to be. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit around and wait, which is frustrating, but that’s life on the Main Road. We keep the doors open and just keep working until the sun goes down. It is hard work, and our clothes usually end up covered in white dust by the time we head home for dinner.
