Genuine Stores

Our shop, Genuine Stores, is at No. 2/130 in the Alwarthirunagar Annexe. We’re really close to St. Johns Matriculation School in Valasaravakkam, so we see a lot of students and parents every day. The school run usually brings a bit of chaos to the street, but it’s a good kind of energy. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the neighborhood grow. It’s a general store where we keep a bit of everything that people might need in a hurry. The shelves are often full to the top, and sometimes we have boxes in the aisles when the new stock comes in. We don't have a fancy layout or anything like that. It’s more about knowing exactly where that one specific item is when someone asks. The morning starts early for us to get everything ready before the first customers show up. Valasaravakkam is a nice area to be in, even if it gets a bit flooded when the rains are heavy. We know most of our customers by name by now. It’s not just about selling things, it’s about being part of the daily routine for the people living around the Annexe. We just keep our heads down and keep the shop running as best we can. It’s simple work but it keeps us on our feet all day long. Sometimes we lose track of time when the shop gets crowded, but we like the pace of it.
