Kemin

We are based out here in Gummidipoondi, which is quite a way out from the main city center. It’s mostly an industrial zone, so there’s a lot of open space but not much else to see around us. At Kemin, we work on ingredients and various science-based products for things like animal feed and food items. It’s a lot of bags and large drums of materials being moved around the warehouse on pallets. We have people who spend their whole day in the lab testing samples, while others are out on the floor managing the production lines. It’s a quiet kind of place in some ways, but there is always a low hum of heavy machinery in the background. We have many staff members who commute from pretty far away, so the mornings are always a bit of a rush when the company buses arrive at the gate. We don’t really do any retail sales here, so it’s not the kind of place people just drop into for a visit. It’s all about the industrial side of things. The weather out here can get really hot during the summer since there isn't much shade between the large industrial buildings. We just keep the water coolers full and get on with our daily tasks. It involves a lot of technical detail and making sure we follow all the safety steps for the chemicals and mixtures. We’ve been here for a while and we’re used to the quiet pace of life.
