Power Engineering

You’ll find Power Engineering out in Kadappakam Village. We’re right on the Vichoor Main Road, which gets a lot of heavy trucks moving through towards Manali New Town. The shop is at No. 6. It’s a dusty spot because of the road, but it’s a good location for the kind of work we do. We deal with engines, parts, and various mechanical bits that need fixing or putting together. It’s greasy work, so our uniforms are never really clean for more than an hour. My hands are usually stained with oil, no matter how much I scrub them. We have a few big machines and a lot of hand tools scattered across the benches. It’s not a high-tech lab. It’s a workshop where we get our hands dirty solving problems. Sometimes a part is stubborn and takes half the day to budge, but we don't give up on it. We’ve been here a while now, and the locals know us. We don’t spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most people just see the workshop from the road or hear about us from a neighbor. The roof leaks a little during the heavy rains, so we have to move the equipment around, but we manage. It’s just a straightforward engineering shop. We show up, do the repairs, and go home tired. That’s how it’s always been for us here, just keep the machines running.
