Hukam Singh

Hukam Singh is located at 75 Ganapathy Garden, out on GNT Road in Ponniamman Medu. We’ve been at this spot for some time now. The building is an older one, but it does the job for what we need. It’s mostly a warehouse and a small counter area for walk-ins. GNT Road stays busy with trucks and lorries passing through at all hours. You can hear the engines rumbling while we work inside. We don't have a team of people in suits. It’s just a few of us in work clothes handling the day-to-day tasks. We stock various items, mostly industrial or hardware stuff that people in the neighborhood need. It’s a lot of manual labor, loading and unloading. We don't spend money on big posters or brochures. People usually find us by word of mouth or because they saw the name on the gate while stuck in traffic. The office area has an old desk and a couple of chairs that have seen better days. We have a small stove for making coffee in the corner. Life here is pretty steady. We open up early and close once the sun goes down and the street lights come on. It’s a practical way to earn a living and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the road. It isn't anything fancy but it's what we do every day of the week.
