Stone Age

Being over here in Paingotoormadu is alright, though it feels a bit tucked away in Kakanchery sometimes. We deal with stones and heavy materials every day, so the yard is usually a mess of gravel and slabs. It’s hard to keep everything clean when you’re moving tons of rock around with the machines. Most days start with a cup of tea while we look at the schedule for deliveries. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the afternoon and there isn't much shade around the workspace. We have been in this spot for a while and the neighbors know us by the sound of the equipment running. It's a loud business. You get used to the noise after a few weeks. We have different kinds of stone sitting in piles. Some have been there longer than others. People come in asking about sizes and what would look good for a wall or a path. We just show them what we have on the ground. There isn't a showroom or anything like that. You just walk through the rows and see for yourself. Kakanchery has changed a bit since we opened, more traffic now for sure. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading trucks. Sometimes the crane acts up and that slows everything down for a few hours. It is just how it goes when you work with this kind of stuff. It is messy work but it keeps us busy from morning till night.
