Jothi Salon

We are situated on Thyapatti Mill Road in Somanur. It is a quiet corner of the Coimbatore district. The road is named after the mill, and many people who work around there stop by our place. The shop has been here for a long time, and the building shows its age a little, but it is sturdy enough for us. We have a few traditional barber chairs and a large mirror that spans most of one wall. We don't have any air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum throughout the day. In the mornings, we usually sit outside for a bit before the first customers arrive. Somanur is the kind of place where everyone knows each other, so we spend a lot of time chatting with whoever is in the chair. We do simple haircuts and shaves. We don't have a menu of services or anything like that. People just know what they want when they walk in. The floor is tiled and we make sure to sweep it after every person leaves. Sometimes the kids from the neighborhood come in and we have to tell them to stay still while we work. It is a very normal, local life here. We don't try to be anything we are not. It is just a small salon on a mill road serving the local community of Somanur as we have always done.
