We are located at Plot No 472 here in Vaniyambadi. It is mostly an industrial kind of area, so there are always trucks moving around. Our building is where we do all the vermicelli work. It’s a process that takes up most of our day. The machines have a certain hum to them that you get used to after a few hours. We spend a lot of time checking the texture and making sure everything is drying correctly. It gets quite warm inside because of the machinery and the way we have to process the flour. There are bags of raw materials stacked up in the corner, and we try to keep them tidy, but it's hard when you're moving things all the time. Most of our workers have been with us for a long time and they know exactly what to do without being told. We don’t have a big office or anything, just a small desk where we keep the books and take phone calls. Sometimes the power goes out in this part of town, which stops everything, but we just wait it out. It’s a practical business. We aren't trying to do anything flashy, just making sure the product is ready to go out to the shops. The floor is usually covered in a fine dust from the flour, no matter how much we sweep. That is just part of the job when you work here.
