Our place is out on Plot No. 4/5/51 on Gandhi Road. Varadaraja Nagar is a bit quieter than the main city center which is nice for us most days. We have been running this trading business for a while now. It started as a small idea and just grew into this shop over time. The building is simple, nothing too modern or shiny. We have a desk at the front and stacks of goods in the back room. Usually, the morning starts with sweeping the front area because the road gets quite dusty with all the trucks passing by. Most of our neighbors are other shopkeepers who we’ve known for years. We spend a lot of time talking to regular people who stop in just to check prices or see what is new in our stock. We don't have any fancy displays or bright neon lights. It's just a practical space where we get the daily work done. The afternoon sun hits the front window pretty hard so we usually pull the shade down around two o'clock. We drink a lot of water and keep the ledgers updated with a pen. It’s a bit of a slow life sometimes but it keeps us busy enough to stay out of trouble. We don't really do much advertising, people just know we are here on the road. It’s a decent way to spend the day, honestly. We close up around seven and head home to our families, then do it all again.
