Little Rose English High School

Little Rose English High School is situated at 8-14 Gandhi Road in Chittoor. This part of town is always moving, and we are right in the middle of all that noise. The school is an old building with high ceilings that help a bit with the Chittoor heat during the summer months. We do not have much in the way of big grassy fields, but we make use of the small space we have. Every morning, the staff meets in the small hall to go over the day. It is a lot of talking about which student needs extra help or whose notebook is missing. The stairs are narrow, and you can hear the footsteps of kids running up and down all day long. We keep a stash of spare pencils and erasers in the office because someone always loses theirs. Gandhi Road is noisy, so we have gotten used to raising our voices a bit when we talk to each other. It isn't a quiet library environment; it is a living, breathing place. Some of the windows do not close all the way, but they let in the air when it gets stuffy. We spend our afternoons grading papers and drinking water from the cooler in the corner. By the time five o'clock rolls around, the building finally gets quiet. We lock the doors and walk out into the Chittoor traffic. It is a simple life and the work is very steady for everyone here.
