S K M Modern Rice Mill

Our rice mill is at 1/110 in Solamadevi. We are right near the Sivajothi Grocery Store, which is a good landmark if you are looking for us. The mill is a busy place, especially when the harvest comes in. You can smell the rice being processed from down the road. It is a constant sound of husking machines and bags being dragged across the floor. We have been operating this mill for a while now, and it is a central part of our daily lives. We do not have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just focus on getting the paddy cleaned and polished properly. The floor is usually covered in a fine layer of dust, and we spend a lot of time sweeping up. It is a local operation, and we know most of the people who come by to drop off their grain. The building itself is quite old and has had its fair share of repairs over the years. We keep the machines oiled and hope for no power cuts during the peak hours. It is just hard work and long days during the season. We are not doing anything fancy here, just running a modern rice mill the best way we know how in our little corner of Madathukulam. Some days the humidity is high and it makes the work slower, but we just keep at it until the last bag is finished.
