Pushpa Modern Rice Mill

If you drive down Mukkudal Main Road, you will find us at No 1/104. Pushpa Modern Rice Mill has been a part of this neighborhood for quite some time. We spend our days dealing with bags of paddy piled high. The building isn't brand new and the paint is peeling in some corners but the machines inside work hard. We usually start the day by checking the motors and making sure the floors are clear enough to move the heavy sacks around. People from the nearby villages bring their harvest here. It is a lot of physical work, lifting and carrying, and my back usually aches by the evening. The dust from the husks gets everywhere, even into your hair. We don't have a marketing department or fancy logos. Our name is just painted on the front. On rainy days, it gets a bit tricky keeping everything dry, but we manage. The Mukkudal Main Road is usually quiet in the mornings but picks up later on. We see a lot of the same faces every season. We just do the milling and help people get their food ready for the market or their homes. It is noisy and hot inside when the machines are running full speed but that is how we spend our time. We don't make a big fuss about things, we just keep the mill going as long as there is paddy to process.
