Cauvery Saw Mill

Our saw mill is at 1/244 on Tenkasi Road in Piranoor. It’s a place that smells like fresh wood and sawdust all year round. We get big logs delivered on trucks, and then we spend the rest of the time cutting them down to size. Being on Tenkasi Road means we get a lot of people stopping by on their way through Piranoor. The machines are loud, and you have to shout a bit to be heard when everything is running. It’s a very physical job, moving heavy timber and making sure the blades are sharp. We have a small shed where we keep the finished planks, but most of the work happens out in the open or under the main roof. The weather really affects us here; when it rains, everything gets a bit more difficult with the mud and the moisture. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and the routine hasn't changed much over the years. We start early when it’s still cool and try to get the heaviest sawing done before the afternoon sun hits. It’s a simple life, mostly just dealing with wood and machines and the occasional local customer who needs a few boards for a project. We don’t have any fancy displays or office space. You just see the wood piled up and hear the saws going. It’s honest, tiring work, but it’s what we do to get by every day.
